The revised MARPOL Annex VI introduced a new mandatory requirement (regulation 15.6) regarding Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions control. This will apply to all tankers carrying crude oil. With effect from July 1, 2010, every tanker carrying crude oil will be required to have on board and implement a ship-specific VOC Management Plan, approved by the Administration.
