VECTOR MANAGEMENT PLAN
NEW LOCAL REQUIREMENT – APPLICABLE ONLY TO VESSELS CALLING KANDLA PORT (INDIA)

In accordance with the instructions issued by the Port Health Organization (PHO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, all vessels that enter or operate in the port of Kandla must be provided with a Vector Management Plan.

 

The purpose of this plan is to outline measures for the control and management of vector in accordance with the Guide to Ship Sanitation and in compliance with the instructions issued by the authorities regulating the operations at Kandla port. Moreover, a rodent logbook should be maintained in the context of the Vector Management Plan.

 

In case that evidence of heavy rodent infestation are present onboard, the vessel may be removed from berth and shifted to anchorage for control measures. Finally, the vessel may be fined on a per day basis.
